Alright, so most people who know me in RL or in the Internet world, know I want to become a professional dog trainer. I work under an amazing dog trainer, and am learning things by the truckload from her. I've taken several obedience classes with my rescued Australian Shepherd, and I just finished Fun with Agility 1 and 2, and am starting 3 and 4 next month. I also take my friends Chocolate Lab puppy to some classes as well.
Kim, my trainer, is teaching me how to do Evaluations, which is evaluating dogs to see whether they are accepted in Daycare or not. I've been doing that for about a month now. And I have been handling a lot of her aggressive dogs. But my true passions is the real scared, skittish, sketch-ball dogs. Who are scared of everything. I gravitate to them. Don't know why, and I don't even notice it. But everyone else does.
So I think I want to try to open up my own department in one of the shelters down her, or take dogs into my home, whichever. But I want to start a training facility of some sort where I get the dogs that are essentially going to be put to sleep because they are so scared. So essentially I will be working with Fear Aggression dogs, and dogs that are just so scared that they have no idea what is going on, and most shelters would just put them to sleep.
I want to be that person that gives those dogs a second chance. I know I gave my dog a second chance. She probably would have put to sleep before I got her. She refused to come out of her kennel, and when I did get her out, she refused to walk across the tile flooring. She wouldn't walk up stairs. She hated walking across any kind of flooring. She was scared of all noises, and every movement. She was terribly head shy, and fear aggressive. She's now a crazy fast, and confident agility dog , and people at work pick her 43 pounds up and carry her around. Within less then a year, I got her to become an agility maniac, and she will actually go up to people for love, and after some time will allow others to pick her up, and do with her as they wish.
Riley...
So I've been getting into fostering the last few months. My trainer got me into it, she wants to test my training ability. I just got a 3 year old, neutered male English Shepherd, named Riley. I think I will be keeping him, lol. He has a lot of issues, but I love it. My trainer thinks he will truly be my test of wit, and wills. I hope I make it.
